SCHOOL PROCEDURES
Please take a moment to review the following information pertaining to our school.  We’d like to highlight a few procedures below:
  • If possible, students should transport the same way each day to avoid confusion.
  • Students may not ride any other bus home to spend the night with friends.  Most buses ride at full capacity and we cannot overload them.
  • Please send a dated note for alternate dismissal transportation changes to school with your child.  In case of emergency, please call the school office (474-8424) by 2:30 p.m. should you have any changes in the dismissal procedure for your child.  Please do not leave any alternate dismissal information on teacher’s voice mail systems.
  • Students cannot be taken off their bus once dismissal begins.  This is for the safety of all our students.
  • Please send a note to your child’s teacher if breakfast is to be purchased in the cafeteria.  Breakfast is from 8:10-8:25 a.m.
  • Prepayment of lunch money must be made before lunch begins.
  • Instruction begins at 8:30 a.m.
  • Between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:00 p.m. classes may not be interrupted without permission from the office.  Teachers are committed to academics and valuable teaching time can be lost through interruptions.  If you need to get something to your child, please leave it at the front desk, and someone will transport it to your child’s class at a convenient time.
  • Please keep the office up to date on any changes in emergency contact information.  The office needs current phone numbers for every student.
  • Please telephone the school when your child will be absent.  Your child will need a written excuse upon return to the classroom.
  • To assure the safety and security of our building, please don’t bring birthday cakes and treats to classrooms.  Contact your child’s classroom teacher or the cafeteria manager about treats during lunch.
  • To avoid hurt feelings, if you choose to send party invitations or holiday cards, please be sure to send one to every child in the classroom.
  • Please do not have flowers or balloons commercially delivered or dropped off at school for your children, as they are not allowed to take them home on the bus and it interrupts instructional time for classroom delivery.
  • Please turn off beepers and cell phones while in the office or attending programs.
  • Homework requests take 24 hours to process.  You can leave a message on the teacher’s voicemail system and they will do their best to accommodate your request.  Homework can also be made up at a later time.
  • Please give teachers 24 hours to respond to any voicemail messages.
Thanks for your cooperation in helping keep Indian Lakes Elementary safe.  Our teachers are working hard each day to help your child succeed.
