If you have a child who will be turning 5 years old on or before Sept. 30, 2015, all elementary schools (except Newtown and Bettie F. Williams) will conduct a parent/student orientation and registration on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. Please share this news with your neighbors and friends.

Attention 5th grade parents! Your child will require a TDaP vaccine before entering middle school. Once your child has received this vaccine, please bring the documentation to Mrs. Hinkel in the clinic for verification. Any questions please call the clinic at 648-2687. Thank you!

The Youth Art Month exhibit is at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Virginia Beach. The exhibit will remain up until March 31st.

The "Audubon Student Art Show" will take place at Pembroke Mall, from April 3-22nd. Fifth grade work from Indian Lakes will be on display in this exhibition.

"Art of the Military Child" will be on exhibit at Lynnhaven Mall April 1-30. Hope you can go enjoy this creative and heartfelt exhibit.

Virginia Beach Citywide Art Exhibit will be at Pembroke Mall from May 15-June.

As you can see our Thunderbirds have been busy creating! I hope you can take the time to visit these exhibits to appreciate the many talents our students have.

It is time for us to change from Shamrock green to Jump Rope for Heart red.  I would like to THANK everyone for supporting the Shamrock race and Operation Smile.  Our students did an AMAZING job!  I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!

I realize that times are difficult and that we all have specific charities and organizations we support.  I would hope you would consider lending your support to this event.  We were able to raise almost $9,000 with your support last year.  Your support has allowed students with heart problems live a healthy and active lifestyle now.

Please continue to collect donations in your Jump Rope for Heart envelopes and online by creating your Jump Rope for Heart webpage.  I included the instructions below.  Creating the online webpage is an extremely effective way to collect donations!

PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN MONEY YET!  Keep the money that you have collected in your Jump Rope for Heart envelope.  I will send home a letter the week of April 13th explaining when to turn in the money.

Here are the instructions to create your webpage:
1. Go to heart.org/jump
2. Choose our state and city.
3. Select our school and join team.
4. Login

When you login please use the following: Username: Student's three initials and the word iles1
Password: thunderbirds

For example: John Thomas Smith Username: jtsiles1

Thanks again for your support!  Let’s see if we can raise even more than we did last year!
